Principal Investigator

Dr Christopher Harding

I completed my MSci and PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Professor Andrew Lovering, where I investigated key enzymes from the predatory bacterium Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus. I subsequently joined the University of St Andrews as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr Clarissa Czekster’s group, expanding my expertise in structural biology, mechanistic enzymology, and inhibitor development.

My research interests focus on understanding protein structure and function, mechanistic enzymology, and bacterial physiology. As a Lecturer in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Liverpool, I lead studies into the molecular basis of Acinetobacter baumannii infections, combining structural, biochemical, and microbiological approaches to inform new antimicrobial strategies.

Postgraduate Researchers

Emma Lyons

MRes Student

I’m a Master of Research (MRes) student based in the School of Biosciences at the University of Liverpool. My current research focuses on characterising bacterial protease linked to virulence and disease. I am particularly interested in translating scientific research into real world applications. I hold a BSc in Veterinary Biosciences from Aberystwyth University, where I focused on the study of Bovine Tuberculosis (TB). I have previously worked with the Centre of Excellence for Bovine TB, gaining valuable experience in infectious disease research and using a multidisciplinary approach with projects aimed at improving the understanding and management of Bovine TB.
